Outfit Post: Bowverload!

What do you get when you wear a gigantic bow on your head? You get bowverload! Hehe! Anyway, I got this really cute yet gigantic black satin bow headband at Forever 21 the other week. Mr. Old School wasn't too keen on the idea of me buying it but I bought the big bow anyway. I think the bigness of it goes well with the fluffiness of my hair. Besides, there's no such thing as too much bows or too big bows either.
  • Giant Black Satin Bow Headband: Forever 21
  • Black Cropped Blazer: Oxford & Regent
  • Nautical Stripes Shirt: Can't figure out the brand, thrifted
  • Retro Red Cinch Belt: Gift from Ann
  • Black Shorts: Express
  • Black Tights: Target
  • Black Oxford Shoes: Olsenboye (Love this shoes!)

Pardon the quality of the photos. Silly me thought I had installed Photoshop in my dandy little Netbook but unfortunately, I was wrong. I had to download Gimp to be able to crop these photos. I know there's a learning curve but I miss Photoshop.

By the way, can anyone guess where in the world I am?

With a bow on top

Mr. Old School gifted me with this LOVELY diamond bow ring for our Anniversary. Our Anniversary won't be for another week or so but since he knew that I lack the ability to delay gratification, he decided to give it to me in advance. (I'm a rabid hamster like that) I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! There's nothing lovelier than a sparkly bow because bows are the bomb! (Yes, with much embarassment, I realized I just said that) Nothing could be girlier than a bow. Thank you, Mr. Old School for such an amazing and thoughtful present! X

Hamster Puppet Fun!

We got this little guy a couple of months back at Borders. He's so much fun! He'll do whatever your fingers are capable of (Which I've realized, in puppet world, is not a lot!) Puppets are definitely old school cool entertainment! And hamsters are the cutest!

Vacation Mode: ON!

The last couple of days have been a complete whirlwind! I've got so much stuff to do which is kind of tiresome and overwhelming but at the same time, I've gotten a bit of my mojo back. I've been feeling rather inspired and creative. Although I've got some new ideas and items for the shop, I will not be able to get on them until I get back from my much needed short sabbatical. I will be leaving the shop open and will definitely be updating my blog so please don't forget about me while I'm gone.

So much to do, so little time

Inspiration has struck and I've been feeling rather crafty. The urge to create is so overwhelming! I spent my Saturday afternoon scouring vintage shops and thrift stores for vintage sewing patterns. I haven't learned how to resize vintage patterns yet so it was quite an adventure rummaging thru boxes of envelopes, looking for patterns in my size. I also bought a couple bags of pearl beads for a little project I have in mind. This is going to be so exciting!

Outfit Post: The quick brown fox

Just a quick outfit post before I hit the sack. I wasn't able to sleep a wink last night. The boy and I speculate it must be all the Mountain Dew I drank late last night. Lying in bed for 3 hours in the wee hours in the morning is no fun. I could hear the ducks squaking. I wonder what they were squaking about. Well, it didn't help that my creative monkeys were going nuts with all these ideas in my head too. Sometimes, you just forget how to turn off your brain, you know? I guess last night was one of those nights. I'm glad that my creative juices are still flowing though. I'd rather stay up all night thinking about so many things rather than thinking of absolutely nothing. Creativity is my life force, after all. I just have to remind myself to stay away from Moutain Dew next time. Happy weekend, everyone!

Outfit Post: In Bloom

Mr. Old School and I went to my old neighborhood today. It's that time of year when the lovely pink flowering tree at the local park there is in bloom. It's a very special tree, I tell you! I look forward to it every year! I have never seen such a beautiful tree in my life! The delicately scented big pink flowers that look like stargazer lilies easily transports you into a dream. We sat on one of the benches under the tree to admire the canopy of pink flowers. The beauty and peacefulness envelopes you. Ah! To be surrounded by such loveliness! I can sit there all day.

Since I knew that I was visiting the lovely pink flowering tree, I had to wear something floral. I was also in a girly-girl mood after flipping thru Dujour Magazine for hours this morning. My whole outfit revolved around those 2 things. At the very last minute, I decided that there wasn't enough flowers in my outfit and so I made that flower head ornament just as we were about to leave the house. I made it in probably 2 minutes or less. That's speed crafting for you! Of course, I was worried that I might have permanently glued the flower ornament thing in my head for being in such a hurry but thank goodness, it wasn't. *whew* It added a bit of pin-up vibe which I thought was cute.

  • Floral Head Ornament Thing: Crafted by me
  • Retro Sunglasses: Forever 21
  • Pink Tank Top: Banana Republic
  • Vintage Apron Halter Dress: Boden

Coachella 2005

Coachella 2010 will be happening on April 16-18 in Indio, California. I'm not attending but I can't help but reminisce about the time I attended Coachella back in 2005. It was my first major solo adventure and I had a blast! Well, except for the porta-potty part. (In the middle of the desert, those things can be a death chamber!) I saw all the bands I intended to see and even got introduced to some really good new ones (like Gratitude and Ambulance LTD). But the highlight has got to be meeting Bloc Party. Matt and Russell are the sweetest! I also got to see The Bravery up close but I didn't get to meet them. Bah! Anyway, let's take a little trip down memory lane...

Lazy Sunday

Today is a lazy day. I woke up, ate some Animal Crackers, took a bath, ate some ice cream, then got back in my pajamas. The weather looked nice outside but there was still a definite chill in breeze. Perfect day to be lazy...

I'm not grumpy, my tootsies were just cold. Look who made an appearance!

In the mood to play peek-a-boo! It's a lazy Sunday all right!

The new vintage dress that I bought from Closeyoureyesvintage arrived today. Like a rabid little hamster, I tore the package up and immediately wore the dress. Freezing Spring Breeze

Another day to get dressed. I had to go to the mall to get something exchanged. Otherwise, I'd be in pajamas the whole day. Getting dressed for me is like a production number. It can actually take me days to decide what to wear only to change my mind on the very last minute. Fortunately for me, this lovely vintage Peter Pan collared floral dress just came out of the wash so that takes care of that! It looked kind of breezy so I threw on an old Gap jean jacket. How cold can it be anyway, I thought. If I only knew it was freezing, I would definitely had worn a coat! At least my tootsies were fine. Hehehe! But here are some photos of my lovely but freezing little excursion to the beach and the park, en route to the mall. Tomorrow's going to be a warm day! Happy Friday, everyone!

  • Light Wash Faded Jean Jacket: Gap
  • Peter Pan Collared Yellow Floral Dress: Vintage
  • Fold Over Scalloped Socks: Supermarket
  • Brown Wedge Sandals: Old Navy

Outfit Post: Little Girl Blue

The weather here has been kind of moody. From warmth and sunshine, it's now wet and dreary. I have a package waiting to be sent out so I had to brave the conditions and go to the post office. (I make it sound like the post office is in the middle of the great outdoors but it's actually just a couple of miles down the street. Hehehe!) I got to wear the $3 Norma Kamali shirt I got the other day and some other Walmart goodies. It was kind of nice outside but boy was it windy! Good thing I wore shorts underneath my skirt. The park was deserted when I arrived but after a couple of photos, I noticed a little girl on the slide. I decided to pack up and let the little girl play in peace. Before going home, I stopped by the local thrift store to see if they have any new dresses to be bought. While trying on some stuff, I took more photos of my outfit. This whole taking your reflection on the mirror photo thing is quite difficult. Look how smudgy the mirror is!

  • Graphic Shirt: Norma Kamali for Walmart
  • Blue School Girl Skirt: Heritage 1981
  • Fold Over Scalloped Socks: Supermarket
  • Chunky Mary Janes: Candie's
